Pamela S. Smith serves as Vice President of Communications at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where she leads a team of talented marketing communications professionals and storytellers who champion the RPI brand. Her team oversees the Institute brand, media relations, and strategic storytelling that elevates RPI's reputation as a premier technological research university.

An award-winning communications leader, Smith brings more than 30 years of progressive experience in strategic communications planning and management, issues management, branding and integrated marketing. Prior to joining RPI in 2017, Smith held marketing and communications leadership roles within the healthcare industry. Her diverse experience spans organizations within insurance and healthcare sectors. 

Smith holds a degree in Communications Studies from Wright State University. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and has received multiple industry awards, including the Innovation Award from the National Business Coalition on Health and IABC Bronze Quill awards.
