John H.  Broadbent Jr. '59 is a co-founder of Arrow International Inc. and was a director of the company from 1975 to 2007 and served as chief financial officer, vice president-finance, and treasurer from 1975 to 1998.  Arrow International Inc. developed, manufactured, and marketed a broad range of clinically advanced, disposable catheters and related products.  Broadbent also served as vice president-finance, treasurer and a director of Arrow Precision Products Inc., formerly a wholly-owned subsidiary of Arrow International Inc., and is currently chairman of Bioenergy Inc. a life sciences company.

From 1966 to 1975,  Broadbent served in several capacities with Carpenter Technology Corporation. From 1964 to 1966, he was employed as a consultant in the Management Advisory Services Department of Price Waterhouse & Co. He was also a trustee of Albright College, a director of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, and a former vice-chairman of the Berks County, Pennsylvania, Chamber of Commerce. Graduating in 1959 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in chemical engineering, he then served for three years as an officer in the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command.   Broadbent received an MBA in 1964 from Harvard Business School. The Rensselaer Alumni Association presented him with a Fellow Award in 1994 from the Center for Entrepreneurship of New Technological Ventures, and in 1995 he was named the William F. Glaser '53 Entrepreneur of the Year by Rensselaer's Venture Affiliates. He is a member of the Stephen Van Rensselaer Society of Patroons of Rensselaer.
