It is with much sadness that I write to share news of the passing of Christopher Browne, creative director at RPI. He was 51.
Chris joined RPI in April 2022 and oversaw creative for a number of university initiatives including research center openings, Rensselaer Forward, and for the campus block party. He left us far too soon. Chris was an outstanding artistic professional who had tremendous success as a creative director at many agencies where he built major brands.
Prior to joining RPI, he was the digital creative director at CB/AD, where he oversaw accounts for Florida’s Sports Coast, Sheetz, Georgia Aquarium, and Vista Technologies. Before that, he was associate creative director at Bright Red/TBWA in Tallahassee, where he oversaw accounts for Krystal, Cayman Islands, Cooper Tires, Dollywood, YouFit Health Clubs, and Pilot.
Other positions he held included freelance senior art director at NCR Corporation, senior art director at Moxie, freelance senior creative manager at Kimberly-Clark, freelance senior art director at SK&G, P+N, and senior retail art director at BBDO.
He was educated in art direction at Atlanta’s renowned Creative Circus school, and earned a B.S. in marketing with a minor in Spanish from the State University of New York at Oswego.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Argento-Browne, and his amazing daughter, Veronica. He is also survived by his father, Charles (Lynda) Browne and sister, Kim Briell. He has several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at St. Matthew's Church in East Syracuse on Thursday, September 28. Visiting hours begin at 10 a.m. with services at 11 a.m., both at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Francis House.
