2018 United Way Campaign
From the President's Desk
Dear Rensselaer Faculty and Staff:
I am writing to you today to express my gratitude for your past contributions to the United Way of the Greater Capital Region. I am so proud of the Rensselaer community! Last year, because of your generosity, Rensselaer received a Leader in Giving Award for contributing more than $100,000 to the United Way campaign. Among Capital Region colleges and universities during the 2017-18 campaign, Rensselaer remained Number 1 in employee giving, employee per capita giving, number of donors, and employee participation. Overall, we had the seventh largest employee giving campaign for United Way among 288 participants.
This would not have been possible without you. Your contributions make a difference in so many lives throughout the Capital Region. I thank you and ask you to, once again, join me in showing your support with a pledge to the United Way of the Greater Capital Region during this year’s campaign.
Rensselaer supports the United Way because it funds programs that achieve measurable and sustainable results - programs that drive community-wide, systemic change and foster individual and family resilience during difficult times. Rensselaer is committed to making these changes in the community, and partners with the United Way so our contributions are used wisely. The United Way raises funds and brings organizations together to tackle the complex roots of conditions such as hunger, academic failure, job readiness, poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, and challenges our seniors face. These are the issues that have the greatest bearing on our region’s social wellbeing and economic health.
“Stronger Children, Stronger Families, Stronger Communities” is the theme of this year’s campaign. The Campaign began October 23 and ends on December 7. We have once again planned a creative and exciting campaign that not only educates our community about the programs of the United Way of the Greater Capital Region, but also celebrates our tradition of giving back to the community. I invite you to “Like Us” on Facebook (United Way at Rensselaer) to keep up with our campaign events and news.
When you give to the United Way, you are not only improving the lives of those who receive services, but the lives of everyone in our community.
