From the President's Desk
Dear Members of the Rensselaer Community,
The tragic loss of life of George Floyd in Minneapolis, in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic, has opened old wounds. Perhaps they never fully healed in the first place. Our nation is very divided, and the pain is real. It is a time we must come together as a community, as a nation, and stand up for a better world.
The perpetuation of inequality, division, racial disparities, fear, and ignorance has brought us to where we are today. As a technological research university, we embrace a collaborative approach, with a multicultural perspective, and global point of view. Everything we do and everything we stand for centers around working together across boundaries, differences, and cultures for the betterment of humanity. We must not look away.
We are part of one national and global community, and we are stronger together than apart. Today, we must commit to do our part in making the world better. Embrace love and respect. Reject hatred and violence. Embrace one another.
Although our hearts are heavy, we can begin to heal and tackle these problems when we come together as a community and act with empathy and respect, with a focus on our shared humanity. We stand for justice and equality.
We are One Rensselaer.
