Mr. Joel Kincart Appointed Associate Vice President for Development and Fundraising

I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Mr. Joel Kincart as Associate Vice President for Development and Fundraising. Mr. Kincart will begin employment with the Institute on Monday, June 1, 2020.
Mr. Kincart most recently served as the President of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Foundation. He has over 20 years of advancement experience in higher education, particularly in the areas of college level development and marketing.
As President of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Foundation, Mr. Kincart led the university through its most successful two-, three-, and five-year fundraising campaigns. He increased the number of donors, donor retention, and average gift size. Specifically, he increased donor giving to scholarships by 50%; improved donor retention from 61% to 66%; increased the number of donors making gifts; and improved alumni participation from 9% to 11.33%. In addition, Mr. Kincart served as a member of the leadership team for the President of the university while managing an active portfolio of donors within the foundation. Mr. Kincart implemented best practices, policies, and procedures related to fundraising, stewardship, gift processing, and data management and enhanced the overall operations of the foundation.
Mr. Kincart previously served as the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Director of Development at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. In this capacity, he oversaw a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects. He developed and implemented individualized moves-management strategies to make successful direct solicitations. The campaign consisted of unit-focused fundraising efforts and mini-campaigns that were focused on institutional priorities. In addition, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the UVU Foundation and Board of Directors activities. Mr. Kincart, in collaboration with the Investment Committee, oversaw the investment of all gifts to the foundation, growing its current corpus of all assets to approximately $58 million from $47 million.
Mr. Kincart served as a Regional Vice President for the American Cancer Society, Great West Division, where he oversaw fundraising and programmatic support for Wyoming, Utah, and Nevada. As the Regional Vice President, he developed a regional strategic plan and developed a strong volunteer corps, as well as established relationships with key business, civic, political, and professional leaders. He held the position of Assistant Dean of Advancement for the College of Education at University of Utah, where he increased college giving by 100% within two years, secured a lead gift of $12 million, and created a strategy for annual giving for the college.
Mr. Kincart was the Director of Development for the College of Science at Utah State University, where he increased donor and alumni/ae giving to the college. At The George Washington University, he served as an Associate Director and at Georgetown University, he served as Director of the Parents Annual Fund program.
Mr. Kincart has completed coursework at the University of Utah and the University of Maryland toward a Ph.D. He earned a Master of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology from Iowa State University.
