2016 United Way Campaign
From the President's Desk
I am writing to you today to express my gratitude for your past contributions to the United Way of the Greater Capital Region. Last year, because of your generosity, Rensselaer received a Partner in Giving Award, and remained number one among Capital Region colleges and universities in employee and per capita giving during the 2015-16 campaign. Overall, we had the sixth largest employee giving campaign for United Way among 388 participants.
This would not have been possible without your contributions; contributions that really make a difference in so many lives throughout the Capital Region. I thank you and ask you to, once again, join me in showing your support with a pledge to the United Way of the Greater Capital Region during this year’s campaign.
Rensselaer supports the United Way because it funds programs that achieve measurable and sustainable results—programs that drive community-wide, systemic change and foster individual and family resilience during difficult times. Rensselaer is committed to making these changes in the community, and partners with the United Way so our contributions are used wisely: to promote financial stability, and strengthen individuals and families by meeting their essential needs. It forges partnerships that address the root causes of problems and creates efficiency by avoiding duplicate efforts while focusing the power of volunteers, advocacy, and expertise on what matters to us in our communities.
The United Way is once again asking us to “Live United,” and help contribute to the local communities by participating in Rensselaer’s 2016 campaign. The campaign begins Wednesday, November 2 and ends on Friday, December 2. We have once again planned a creative and exciting campaign that not only educates our community about the programs of the United Way of the Greater Capital Region, but also celebrates our tradition of giving back to the community. I invite you to “Like Us” on Facebook (United Way at Rensselaer) to keep up with our campaign events and news.
We ask that you please continue to support your neighbors in need through the United Way, and to give generously when one of the volunteers contacts you. Remember: when you give to the United Way, you are not only improving the lives of those who receive services, but the lives of everyone in the community.
