Dr. Judith Stoddard, appointed Director of Institutional Research and Assessment
From the President's Desk
I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Dr. Judith Stoddard as Director of Institutional Research and Assessment. Dr. Stoddard began employment with the Institute on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020.
Dr. Stoddard previously served as Director of Institutional Planning and Research, and Cabinet Officer, at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Dr. Stoddard has 20 years of institutional research, analysis, assessment, and planning experience, in the support of long-range plans and executive decision-making in higher education and in corporate settings.
Prior to her most current role, Dr. Stoddard served as Director of Research and Analysis, Global and Complex Operations, at AT&T from 2006 to 2014, where she was part of the senior management team dispersing $100 million across 82 projects and hundreds of funding requests. From 1997 to 2004, Dr. Stoddard served as Senior Technical Manager at Bell Labs, where she analyzed international voice and data transmissions for big-data trends and insights.
Her successful advancing work at AT&T and Bell Labs was in program evaluation, metrics, cost/benefit analysis, benchmarking surveys, data collection, and reporting. She has developed a set of principles to guide the establishment of new programs and to evaluate existing programs, and to manage research staff and budgets in support of administrative decision-making, long-range plans, policies, and institutional reviews. Dr. Stoddard has been successful conceptualizing how to measure and evaluate policies, programs, and demand for new services, and finds this work exciting and rewarding.
Dr. Stoddard received a Ph.D. in Global Affairs, major in Global Development & Nonviolence, and a Master’s of Education, major in Evaluation and Measurement, both from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J. In addition, she holds a Bachelor of Arts, major in Psychology, from the State University of New York, Oswego, N.Y.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Judith Stoddard to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and to the Office of the Provost.
